Flying home from Bali

These were too cute to not post...

Indonesia!!!

Yes, we took a 14 month old on a 27 hour plane flight to Bali and SE Sulawesi. She was an absolute champion traveler - she did better than we did, in many regards. For instance, she slept the entire 13 hour flight from Seattle to Taipei. Then she ran around like a monkey in the Taipei airport during our five hour layover. Then slept again, the entire 5 hour flight from Taipei to Bali. I barely slept at all.

Here she is, the first morning, just after breakfast. Bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready for this adventure...

Mama and Fiefer.

Me, in a state of total relaxation. And probably on some painkillers, as I had totaled our car about 24 hours prior to takeoff.

My good-looking husband, against the most lovely red wall...

We introduced Fiona to watermelon juice. This was quite possibly the best thing she has ever tasted. Ever. Notice the joy, then the utmost concentration as she focuses on getting all that juice out of that straw...

Yeah, this kid found her passion. At least, her "in-this-moment-all-I-have-ever-wanted-is-watermelon-juice" passion. It quickly moved on to cheddar bunnies. Then back to juice. She's fickle.

Every time I look at these photos, I have to double-take... they seem too life-like to me. (Well, if large monkey-men walked the earth.)

This is the pool where we stayed. That is me and Fi in the corner. She was way into the frog fountain.

See?
This is my current favorite "holding Fiona" position. She snuggles. It is awesome.

Hopefully some underwater photos to come...

Kitchen has counters!!

Facing the dining room. Lighting has been replaced, counters installed, new kitchen sink... life is good. Those are my Mother's Day lilies from G on the counter...

We floored over the second stairwell to the basement, so we could sink the fridge and add pantry cabinets...

And stove with counters next to it.

Happy birthday G!

If you can steam it and dip it in butter, then this is the party for you!
The boys ate crabs and artichokes, amongst other delicacies. I believe some oysters were consumed as well.

Happy birthday sweetheart!

Kitchen work.

We finally finished installing the cabinets in the kitchen. A few shots from my phone.. looking out the window:

Here is the American Range stove that G bought for me, notice the double oven!! We managed to wrestle the hood in place, a feat that we will never forget...

And then, one day while driving, I parked and turned around to check on the babe. She was so cavalier, lounging in her seat, I cracked up and managed to catch it on film...

Sighting of the SUN in April...

The sun came out in Seattle, so we hit the beach. Richmond Beach is close to our house, has the feel of Golden Gardens, but without the mobs or the beach-that-is-actually-a-giant-ashtray feel.

Here, you can see Fiona fascinated by the concept of sand. It has just caught her attention:

She tries to stare into the sun - a tactic to try and distract me from the fact that she is now eating the sand - as I am trying to find her eye protection. I don't want a blind child!

Oh right, sand doesn't taste so good.

Right.

Nana visits the PNW

Nana came for a visit!

After breakfast one day, we walked down to the beach, to watch the ferries come in.
Fi was more interested in eating the rocks than collecting -

Nana convinced her to collect instead.

Fi loves her Nana!
